kāyiri
"wait (formal imperative)" in spoken Kannada is kāyiri. It's a verb (formal imperative) that you'll first encounter in Lesson 14: I'd Recommend the Masala Dosa of the KannadaMaadi course, where Anu and Ravi use it in context.
Grammar note root kāyu; -iri is plural/polite imperative suffix
Heard in a real Bengaluru conversation
Words land faster when you hear them inside a real sentence. kāyiri is used in Lesson 14 (I'd Recommend the Masala Dosa, CEFR A2) — a short audio conversation between Anu and Ravi set in a recognisable Bengaluru situation.
